The Smashing Machine is based on the true story of UFC legend Mark Kerr, capturing both the highs of his fighting career and the struggles outside the cage.

The film will be released in UK cinemas on 3 October 2025.

Plot:
Set in the year 2000, The Smashing Machine tells the true story of Mark Kerr, one of the most dominant fighters in the early days of the UFC. Inside the cage he was unstoppable, but outside he wrestled with addiction, fame, and fractured relationships. With his then-wife Dawn Staples (played by Emily Blunt) at his side, Kerr’s battle for glory collides with his struggle for survival. Director Benny Safdie blends intense MMA sequences with an intimate portrait of resilience, heartbreak, and the cost of chasing greatness.
