What is the OSPAP
OSPAP stands for “Overseas Pharmacist Assessment Programme” and this programme is mandatory to all pharmacists who gained their degrees outside the UK .if they want to practice pharmacy inside the UK. The course exists in two versions, the first one is PgDip “Postgraduate Diploma”, and the MSc “Master of Science”.
The journey of Overseas Registration consists of three parts:
1. OSPAP Course: 9 months for PgDip OR 13 months for Msc
2. Foundation Year: (Pre- Reg) 52 weeks (paid)
3. GPhC pre-registration assessment exam
Where can I study OSPAP?
There are four universities in the UK provide this course with different fees.
Aston University in Birmingham: MSc (£18,150), PgDip (£12,100).
University of Sunderland: MSc (14,000£), PgDip (9,000£).
Brighton University: MSc (16,500£), PgDip (13,500£).
Hertfordshire University: PgDip only (13,920£).
There are no scholarships or funding aids regarding OSPAP, however, there is free accommodation for early applicants for Sunderland and fees discounts in Sunderland and Aston,.
To be eligible to join
You must fulfil GPhC requirements to get GPhC approval letter to be admitted to OSPAP.
Required documents:
1. ENIC Statement of Comparability: ENIC is an independent body to evaluate the international qualifications, applicant should submit their original pharmacy degree certificate and transcripts and pay 49.50£ to receive their letter. https://www.enic.org.uk/
2. English Language test: IELTS Academic with a score of band 7 in each section, or OET Pharmacy with grade B in each section.
3. Two reference letters: one academic and the other is professional from a recent employer or 2 academic reference
4. The original Certificate
5. Academic transcript
6. Photocopy of the passport: should be signed and stamped by a lawyer in presence of the applicant
7. Certificate of Birth.
8. Two photos: should be signed and stamped by a lawyer in presence of the applicant
9. Letter of good standing from the regulatory body in the home country
10. Another letter of good standing in case of working as a pharmacist in another country.
11. Gphc Application: should be signed and stamped by a lawyer in presence of the applicant. You can download it from https://www.pharmacyregulation.org/......
All these documents should be sent to the GPhC address in one envelope with a payment of 687£, after 28 days or more, Gphc will send its decision regarding applicants’ eligibility to OSPAP.
Please note, Reference letters, academic transcripts and letters of good standing must be sent by the institutions whether by post or by their official emails.
After approval of GPhC, universities will contact you to complete your admission process.
