In this video I explore the secret history of the Nuragic civilisation in Sardinia. Bronze Age Sardinia was home to these enigmatic people with a culture characterised by the building of thousands of round towers, hundreds of megalithic graves and beautiful holy wells. No-one is quite sure where they got their unique culture from, especially considering the fact that researchers have found genetic continuity between the Neolithic and the Bronze Age on the island.
It's also not certain what the function of their numerous round towers called Nuraghi were or why the civilisation plunged into a dark age some time at the end of the second millennium BCE. In this video I look at some startling ideas such as the possibility a comet caused a tidal wave to inundate the south of Sardinia in the Late Bronze Age, the bizarre geographic argument for it having been Atlantis and the mysterious origins of the sea people known as the Sherden or Shardana. Could Sardinia have a secret history that explains a lot about its unique ancient culture and where they went?
But my favourite topic of all, is the possible connection between the ancient Sardinians, the Etruscans on mainland Italy and the Pelasgians from the Aegean. This is particularly interesting because it might just show who really built the cyclopean walls that proliferate on the Italian mainland. Explore with me!
