Today the desert disappeared under 6–7 inches of snow — and that doesn’t change the mission.

At Joshua Tree Reptile Haven, a “forever home” means we don’t assume they’re fine just because they’re out of sight. In conditions like this, one malfunction can become lethal fast, so we’re out here walking the five acres and checking every enclosure every 1–2 hours — over and over — to make sure every tortoise is warm, sealed, and safe.

This is the behind-the-scenes part of rescue: real problems happening in real time, and us solving them in real time. And Amanda isn’t behind me — she’s out front doing the same cold, hard work, because nothing gets in the way of them being protected.
