Ahmad Faraz was one of the greatest Urdu poets of the modern age. He was born in Kohat, KPK, Pakistan and then moved to Peshawar for his studies in the prestigious Edwards college Peshawar. He earned his master’s degree in Urdu and Persian from the University of Peshawar. After his education he taught in the University of Peshawar and served as a producer in Radio Pakistan. Later he served on senior administrator positions such as Resident Director of Pakistan National Centre, and subsequently the Director of Academy Adbiyaat Pakistan, Lok Wirsa and Chairperson of National Book Foundation.

He was awarded with several awards including the Adamjee, Abaseen, Literature and TATA Awards. His first poetry book was Thanhaa Thanhaa, and second Dard-e-Ashob. Ahmed Faraz had three sons, Saadi Faraz, Shibli Faraz and Sarmad Faraz. Sarmad Faraz is a musician while Shibli Faraz is a politician who served as the Minister of Science and Technology, from Tehreek e Insaf Pakistan. Ahmad Faraz died of kidney failure on 25 August 2008 and buried in H-8 Graveyard, Islamabad. In this video we have presented his biography and grave (mazar).
