In 2022, we spent 6 months at sea gathering key data on the immediate environmental impacts of our pilot nodule collection system test. Approximately one year on, our team is hard at work assessing how the abyssal ecosystem at depths of 4kms has responded, and whether the structure of benthic communities and their ecological function has adapted or changed. This data will be used to inform our application for a commercial exploitation and will enable the International Seabed Authority to make science-based decisions. The early qualitative assessments are encouraging and we look forward to sharing the findings with all stakeholders in 2024.
