Hello and Welcome to the dexterity and flexibility guide to help you improve your flexibility and dexterity for pen spinning, and increase your overall hand health.

First, let's cover the difference between most people's definitions of dexterity and flexibility. Dexterity is the ability to move your hand and fingers in coordinated ways to boost overall performance. Flexibility involves the range of motion of your fingers and how smoothly they can be bent in different directions. At least these are the definitions I will be following throughout the video.

People have told me I have some of the most dexterous and flexible hands in the pen-spinning community, so I will basically go through what I did from breaking my hand to where I am now so you can follow along.

This video will go over a comprehensive list of exercises and stretches to improve flexibility and dexterity for pen spinning. It may be controversial if stretches and exercises actually do help with dexterity and flexibility for some, but personally, I believe stretches and exercises can have improvements on dexterity and the smoothness part of flexibility. Although you can increase the maximum bendable distance a little bit, the maximum bendable distance is pretty much just caused by genetics. Dexterity and flexibility are somewhat correlated so having extremely non-flexible hands could make it harder to improve dexterity.

There is also a list of linkages specifically designed to improve pen-spinning dexterity and if you practice those enough and get better at them, I can almost guarantee some kind of pen-spinning dexterity improvement.

As we explore finger crosses, it's important to remember that hypermobility (double-jointedness) may allow for unique finger positions but should be approached with caution. Prioritizing hand health over extreme flexibility is crucial for long-term well-being. Note: being "double-jointed" does not mean one has any extra joints.

Overall, if you want more dexterous hands for pen spinning, the most important thing is to spin more. Specifically, I believe in dense linkages with heavier mods spinning slightly faster. This can have the benefit of treating spinning like a sort of exercise instead of just practice.
