Ireland's Wild Atlantic Way Motorcycle Tour by BMW 1200 GSA and Triumph Tiger 900 - Ep 3

This episode gives us one of our best ever day's riding! The road from Bantry to Portmagee was always going to be great but we decided to stray from the WAW and take in the magnificent Healy Pass, and what a day to do it - the weather was glorious! Also, a big thanks to Tim - a local biker we met on the way to the Pass. I'd noticed someone appearing to be following our route after we left Bantry. Usually, any bikers behind us soon overtake us because we ride pretty slowly but in this case he stayed at the same distance behind for quite a few miles until we stopped just before the pass to check our Go Pro batteries and it was then he pulled into say hello and shake our hands as a keen follower of the channel! Sorry we didn't get a photo Tim but we both really appreciated you stopping to say a quick hello.
After the Pass, the road and magnificent scenery continued as we followed The Ring of Kerry around the coast with too many stunning viewpoints to count.
Finally arriving in the delightful fishing village of Portmagee. It wasn't until we'd checked into our hotel that we realised the massive significance of the Star Wars connection. It turns out that the main cast of two Star Wars films stayed at the same hotel for the duration of the filming on Skellig Island and Luke Skywalker was filmed pulling his own pint of Guinness there!
We had a fantastic night at The Moorings and yet again the food was outstanding. Our only reservation about our stay was the lack of secure parking which was a little disappointing.
