For much of the 90s, Belle was considered one of the greatest, most beloved sluggers in Indians' history. That all changed in the winter of 1996 when Belle signed a 5-year, $55 million dollar contract to join the Chicago White Sox. On June 3, 1997, Belle returned to Cleveland to play in front of his former fans.
