When most people hear the words Ambrose Burnside and Antietam, they conjure images of his repeated attempts to seize the Rohrbach Bridge across the Antietam, the same bridge that today bears his name. Burnside's Battle of Antietam didn't end on the banks of Antietam Creek, in fact, his IX Corps nearly made it into the town of Sharpsburg! Dennis Frye and Tom Clemens of the Save Historic Antietam Foundation unpack this untold story of Antietam.
