While Meghalaya remained in the spotlight following the murder of an Indore-based tourist and the developments that took place over the past few days, another murder case has come to light—this time in Tripura. A 24-year-old man was killed over a suspected love triangle.

Shariful Islam, a resident of Agartala, was reported missing on June 8. His body was found three days later on June 11, hidden inside a freezer at an ice cream shop in Gandatwisa (formerly Gandacherra). The shop is owned by the father of the main accused.

According to West Tripura Superintendent of Police Kiran Kumar, both Shariful and 28-year-old Dr. Dibakar Saha had been in a relationship—at different times—with the same woman from Chandrapur in Agartala. While Shariful had recently ended the relationship, Dibakar had just begun one. Police believe Dibakar feared Shariful would interfere and allegedly planned the murder to stop him.

Police have arrested six people:Dibakar Saha, Jaydip Das, Nabanita Das, Animesh Yadav, Dipak Saha and Debika Saha. Further investigation into the incident is currently underway.
