After catching the ASTA Wine Train at New Hope Dr, I raced up here to catch it again. Somehow, I beat it with over 10 minutes to spare. I was pretty surprised when the train rounded the bend and barrelled down the hill with the crossing still off. Here we see the ASTA Wine Train a second time.

This crossing is really cool. It is a 1980s Southern Pacific install that has had some changes since being installed. Both original bells (which I think were Safetran mechanical bells) were replaced with a General Signals Type 1 and Type 2. Unfortunately, the Type 1 must have failed recently because a Type 3 is in its place. The Longhorn Railroad also added LED inserts to the overhead lights, akin to other crossings on the line.

The crossing here activated only 15 seconds before the train entered the crossing, below the mandated 20-second minimum. I suspect this bug was caused by a new relay bungalow. Between March 2021 and when this video was taken, some genius driver probably ran the old one over. Personally, I don't think it's a problem since road and rail traffic is light and there aren't any nearby traffic signals to back traffic up onto the tracks.
