The Karnataka Shakti scheme, launched in June, that provides free rides to women and trans people of Karnataka in state-run general buses has paved the way for an unprecedented and unexpected travel boom and pattern. Women are tasting a new kind of freedom, staking their claim to public spaces and joy unaccompanied by men, and forging female friendships on the road like never before. Free Shakti is stree Shakti.
