I'll just drop this here, shall I? Don't mind me, carry on. Just fulfilling THE most popular request I've had over the past 24 years, "The Sing-Along Episode", no biggie! Boy, the world sure could use a good old-fashioned sing-along right about now, eh? Well, here's truly the next best thing. This is pure joy right here. First aired on April 23, 1976, start tappin' those toes for Ep 900, written by Joseph A. Bailey, adapted from his own work on the record album released the previous year (Grammy nominated "Bert & Ernie Sing-Along", it lost to "The Little Prince").
Mr. Bailey recalls: "The 'Bert & Ernie Sing-Along' album just started with an idea from Jon Stone to do, well, a sing-along. I was watching a lot of the Marx Brothers in those days. So, an idea hit me to do a riff on the state room scene from 'A Night at the Opera'. ... Since a record album is basically a radio show, I could make it as outrageous as I wanted. And then, Jon liked it so much we did a video version of it on Sesame Street. That was quite a production!"

SING-ALONG NOTES: @Muppet Wiki needs an edit. Big Bird (Caroll Spinney) brings a glockenspiel, not "an armful of bells, which he drops" for his song (5:38). Which he then plays horribly, I must say, but it still sounds great. Love that Muppet Magic, lol!
There's something so endearing about David (Northern Calloway) cheerfully playing his guitar while it sits in the suds (3:56). It's still getting soapy at 5:54 and 7:50. Just something I enjoyed.
Love how Bert (Frank Oz) exhibits no shame for his nakedness until Maria (Sonia Manzano) walks in, then he's mortified (4:28). By the end, his tub appears to be devoid of any suds, so I don't even want to know what Maria can see :-O
All wearing sneakers and jeans for the "Stand Up and Pinch Your Nose" bit, of course (12:20). And how about that "pat your 'fro" part? A little mean to our follically challenged buddy, Gordon (Roscoe Orman), but he appears to be a good sport about it, and just I LOVE the whole bit! They're so darn hip and groovy. Just look at Gordon and David's amazing '70s shirts. You can't beat that level of smoothness.
THE SING-ALONG SONGS: We start with Bert singing the "Sesame Street Theme" to himself, enjoying a quiet soak in his tub. Not expecting that "Chicka-boom", lol! Ernie (Jim Henson) wheels in a piano and we're off. The rest of the songs: "I Refuse to Sing Along", "John Jacob Jingleheimer Schmidt", "Cheer Up", "Bats in My Belfry", "On Top of Old Smokey", "Stand Up and Pinch Your Nose", "I'm Going Somewhere", "What's the Name of That Song?", and "Sing".
