Jeep Cherokee XJ rear add a leaf install broken bolts rusted mess

Ive been wheeling XJ rock Crawlers for over 20 years, but now I want a stock XJ all of a sudden?

So doing leaves and coils in my XJ crawler usually takes 1.5 hrs to do both leaves, and like 20 minutes per coil. This thing being rusted to hell ended up being spread out over a couple of days.

I love XJs, parts are cheap, Easy to get, and they are easy to work on, and easy to diagnose!

go over the reasons why I wanted a stock XJ and talk about why I picked up a new 2000 Jeep Cherokee XJ.

I don't think I will make this one into a Rock Crawler like the rest of them, I think I will keep it stock to maybe slightly modified stock (maybe a volt on 3.5" lift and 31"-33" tires down the road) but for now, I love driving this thing as is with all of the steering and suspension work, and finally getting the interior cleaned out.

It needs a ton of work to get it drivable.

Some of the things I started off with:

Replace the CPS and Trans control module to get rid go P01694 code
fixed no bus signal on the gauge cluster with a new cluster (cleaned grounds, news CPS, new trans control module above )
Replace Driver front window regulator and driver front door control switch panel
all 4 shocks and rear flag nut (rear bolts broke off in the frame)
trackbar
TRE at pitman arm
welded up caliper slide area on knuckles
upgraded LED headlights and wiring harness
ignition lock cylinder
trans fluid swap 2 times
New Goodyear wrangler trail runner ATs
new headliner and misc interior bulbs
lots of cleaning
air filter, coil and filter
Battery and starter cable upgrade, upgraded ground wires too and cleaned all grounds
New gauge
It needs a ton of work to get the interior cleaned up, it was nasty. Beyond nasty.
New hatch struts
new hood cable
Some seat covers (gave up on cleaning the seats)
New radio


Just got it smogged and regd so at least ive got that going for me, which is nice!

Jeep Cherokee XJs are my favorite car ever built, hands down, I have owned countless XJs over the last 23 years.
