Okay so there are actually nine punch defenses. Ten just sounds better :-)

Sensei James Olson and I take turns executing defenses against a straight punch. In this video all our defenses are on the outside line, meaning we parry the punch from the outside.

This is a demo, but it's not choreographed. I don't know what James is going to do and he doesn't know what I'm going to do. James tends to use techniques from Karate and Japanese Jujitsu, while I tend to employ Hapkido and Silat.

Sensei James is a sandan in Shorin-Ryu Kempo and Kokodo Jujutsu, and has extensive experience in other martial arts, particularly Danzan Ryu Jujitsu. He has the grace and poise that you only see in those lifelong martial artists who began as children. He is available for private classes in Fresno or the surrounding area.
