I bought this Bitmain Antminer S5 used on eBay for $159 with free shipping. The original owner modified (modded) it by enclosing it with acrylic plastic (Plexiglas, Acrylite, Lucite, and Perspex) glass and swapping out the very loud OEM fan with a much quieter fan.

I'm using a decibel (db) meter app on my Samsung Galaxy S5 to check the sound level of the miner.

Standing a foot away yields a result of 49-50 dB. Right in front of the fan is about 62dB. At the entrance to my office, the noise is down to about 22-24dB.

The PSU (power supply unit) is a Azza Titan 1000W 80 Plus Bronze model # PSAZ-1000A14.

The fan is a Scythe DFS123812H-3000 Ultra Kaze 120mm x 38mm Case Fan - 3000RPM which is not PWM so it has a 3 pin plug and the fan speed can not be controlled.

I've read that the Noctua NF-F12, Noctua NF-P12 and the Corsair SP120 case fans in a push pull configuration can also be very quiet.

I'm using a Netgear router as a wireless bridge to get an ethernet connection to the miner in my garage.

At the stock 350mhz clock rate, the miner stays at about 52-55C (Celsius). The temperature in the garage is about 69-75 degrees Fahrenheit.
