The ABC's of Whitetail Deer Minerals

Creating deer mineral sites or mineral licks helps to improve the health of your deer herd and potentially improve the quality of bucks on your property. Deer minerals should just be one part of your deer management program. You can use block style and/or granular minerals that you can place on the ground. Granular minerals will result in a higher intake by the deer vs. a block style that limits the deer to licking up the mineral versus granular being actually eaten. Additional benefits of minerals include helping deer address sodium deficiencies in the summer, providing does support for digestion and lactation while fawning, helping to build the skeletal system of bucks that they draw from as well as their diet when growing their antlers, and enabling you to get an inventory of your deer herd with game cameras.
