The 2014 Acura RLX features a handful of new signature Acura Technologies designed to take this luxury sedan to a higher level of performance and comfort. There are also some new systems that while can be found on other cars, are new to the Acura brand. The RLX has a base price of $48,450 but can quickly swell to over $60,000 when you add on various packages.

What is the first Japanese brand to bring a luxury car to America? You might say Lexus or Infiniti but those answers are wrong. Honda was the first manufacturer to bring over a luxury brand with Acura in the mid 1980's. These vehicles were not only luxurious but also very innovative. Now we have the all new Acura RLX that sports many new features both inside and out.

Up front the first thing that you will notice about the 2014 Acura RLX luxury sedan are the Jewel Eye LED headlights which have a very unique look. The bucktooth grille, which is now a common trait on Acura vehicles, has also made its way onto the RLX. The rest of the exterior is a bit plain and mundane but that's alright because some people do not want a luxury car that stands out.

If there one area where Honda excels it is with engine technology. Acura has replaced the engine from the outgoing RL with an updated version of their V-6. This 3.5 liter engine is a bit smaller but features direct injection and puts out more power at 310 horsepower and 272 lb-ft. of torque. The transmission is a 6-speed automatic. Fuel economy is 21 MPG in the city and 30 MPG on the highway. One great feature on the RLX is the P-AWS system which stands for precision all-wheel steering. What this system does is turn the rear wheels up to 1.5 degrees for a more precise steering feel.

If there is one area in which Acura excels it would be the infotainment system. The AcuraLink system delivers all sorts of information, traffic reports, and connects to your wireless devices. The ante has also been upped when it comes to the interior and the quality of the materials. As far as cargo capacity, this mid-sized luxury sedan does a good job. There is plenty of room for 5 people plus a nice sized trunk for their belongings.

Acura has a place in the luxury car market especially for people who love the Honda brand. The RLX may be a larger, more refined, and more luxurious version of the award-winning Honda Accord.
