A friend posted a photo of the old Highway 31 bridge near Garden City, Alabama on Facebook and I knew I had to to some exploring there.

When I arrived at the secluded park between two bridges over the Mulberry Branch of the Black Warrior River I was surprised to find the lot was almost full because there were a couple of groups of kayakers there to enjoy the sunny morning on the river. This made it an even better experience.

As an added surprise a train passed through as I was flying over a railway bridge nearby, adding some excitement to the morning. Since I use DJI Goggles when flying this was an odd experience, because while the drone was facing South down the railroad tracks, and the train horn was sounding from the North, I was physically facing West and hearing the horn coming from my right - my eyes and ears were sending conflicting messages. It was confusing for several seconds as I worked out where the train actually was. In the end I was able to set up a shot so the train passed underneath the drone, and that's what you see in this video.

Someday I'll go back and fly through the bridge superstructures, and down the length of the old 31 bridge. As I watched the raw footage I was kicking myself for not thinking to do it that day, but I was very excited about that train and completely forgot.
