I recently watched a video that mixed Borax and Rock grit together, I decided to give this method a test run.

It sure made washing and cleaning the barrel a little easier, normally I have to use a toothbrush and really scrub around the barrel.

Trying this method I just had to give the barrel a good spray and the grit washed out a little easier, I think I'll continue to use this method more.
