im from a mountainous range, a valley on the river Drina
podrinje, back in the day no other place was more serener
Before the war, before the cleansing and before we had to leave
It’s the place where I was born, and forever lives in me ZV

I remember when I was young, walking around these roads,
And wondering what’s up with all these people dressed in army clothes
And why my mother looking scared, and my father looking angry
what’s up with all the tanks and the weaponry they carry

that’s when it all changed, friends and neighbors became foes
Paramilitary units started arriving in droves
and..bombin our homes, I was watching it all happen
Only 7yrs old too young to understand it

But I remember the fear, and the feeling someone’s out to get you
With their guns out, and aint no nobody around there to help you
If you aint been in warfare, its hard for me to convey it
Imagine dodging bullets while bodies are scattered on the pavement

Across the Drina basin, basically bore the brunt of it
Ushered into the killing fields, with their guns thundering
Lucky that we escaped it, but so many never made it
Rest peace to all the souls that should've never been taken
