$180 OMAKASE in ORANGE COUNTY! Momoyama, Fountain Valley | BEST SUSHI OC

Where to eat omakase in Orange County? Located in Fountain Valley, Momoyama 桃山 is a hole in the wall Japanese restaurant that specializes in omakase. At dinner, they only do omakase and you can choose two options: $140 and $180.

Chef Kuramoto Taiki was born and raised in Japan and brings his sushi expertise to the table with a mix of traditional Japanese food as well as innovative dishes and combinations. Travelling Foodie Tip: If you want to be served by Chef Kuramoto Taiki, ask to be seated at the center of the sushi bar.

I did the $180 omakase at Momoyama in Jan 2022, and here are the courses. Note that omakase dishes changes based on the chef so you might not get the same thing. Overall, I really loved the omakase at Momoyama. I recommend getting the higher menu because the extra dishes are worth it! It's really one of the best omakase in Orange County.

9. Otoro (Blue Fin Tuna Belly) Sushi with Uni Miso
10. Nodoguro (Ocean Perch) Sushi
11. Santa Barbara Uni (Sea Urchin) Sushi with Caviar and Gold Flakes
12. A5 Miyazaki Wagyu and Foie Gras Sushi
13. Ankimo (Monkfish Liver) Tempura with shaved Black Truffles
14. Santa Barbara Uni Rice with Otoro, Uni, Osetra Caviar and Gold Flakes
15. Winter Wild Yellowtail Shabu Shabu
16. White Chocolate Crème Brulee with Raspberry Sauce
