Investing in Reciprocal Relationships is Always Better than Wasting Effort in Lukewarm Friendships

No one really highlights the damage that can be caused by lukewarm friendships.

The ones who are there for a good time, but are nowhere to be found when you experience a crisis, or are going through a challenge. Who sometimes are the ones who are indifferent and passive in witnessing your mistreatment, and invalidate your experiences.

We want to respect their agency, so we feel inclined to respect their silence. Even when it hurts, even when it would have meant everything if they had checked in or spoken up.

If there's one thing that fostering a healthy relationship with myself has taught me, invest your time and energy into people who value you as much as you do (and will come to), you'll be surprised at what you will no longer make the space to tolerate.
