African Conference in London 1948

Описание к видео African Conference in London 1948

In September of 1948, ( 29th Sep - 9th Oct, 1948) the British colonial office organized a visit by the African leaders in London. The African delegates representing ten African territories were given opportunity to see many parts of Britain, of which many of them have never seen before. Most notable in this meeting was Tafawa Balewa of Nigeria. From Potato farmers to auto manufacturing company, and eventually a meeting with the King on the steps of Buckingham Palace, the African delegates hope to discuss matters of economic and political concern.
This film is a bit of propaganda as British was trying to recover from the great war that had devastated its people and its economy and was looking to re-position itself toward Africa once more, for its revival. But the wave of African "conscientiousness" following WWII proved challenging.
