It's only been a few days since my new Quaker Parrot arrived so my main focus has been ensuring he settles in. I do not take him out of the cage just yet because I do not want him to freak out and get hurt. For now, my main concern is for him to eat his food, discover the layout of his cage, start playing with toys, and feel safe.

Soon enough as he settles down, I will be able to interact with him more. I'm looking for signs that he is consuming his food. Even if I do not see him eating with my own eyes (could be too shy to eat in front of me), I can check other signs. Is there less food remaining in the food bowl? Is there food sprinkled around on the bottom of the cage? Is there poop on the bottom of the cage? Once I know he is reliably eating and moving about the cage, I can continue to the next steps.
