Reviewing a guitar but I know nothing about guitars

The other day I posted a YouTube poll asking what instrument you play (if any), and 70% of the people who answered said GUITAR/BASS. So, in honor of that, I wanted to play a guitar myself. I just have to say... I have SO much respect for you guitarists. This instrument doesn't make any sense.

WHY IS THERE A VOLUME KNOB ON YOUR INSTRUMENT?!
