Grow ANYTHING All Year in your Kitchen - Aerogarden Set Up

You can grow almost anything in a tabletop hydroponic gardening system like the Aerogarden, as long as you choose the right variety. Here we set up the Aerogarden for the first time with Orange Hat dwarf tomatoes - a tiny plant that only gets about 9 inches tall - as well as some lettuce.

Using an Aerogarden is pretty easy. This was my first time setting it up, and the results were amazing. The garden kits come with everything you need to get started, including seed pods. These are usually either herbs or lettuces, but you can in fact grow your own seeds.

For some vegetables, you will need to select varieties that will work in a small system like this. When growing tomatoes, for example, you will probably need to go with a dwarf variety. The Orange Hat tomatoes in this video are from Baker Creek Seed Company, and they're the smallest tomato plants I could find.

You can grow most things hydroponically, with the exception of root vegetables. But popular choices (depending on the plant size and the Aerogarden size) include lettuce, tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers, herbs, kale and other brassicas, all kinds of greens. I find dill does really well in a small Aerogarden like this Harvest model. So does basil.
