The weight of aluminum rails is only 14% that of electrically equivalent steel rails. Rugged, corrosion-resistant stainless steel capped aluminum third rails provide excellent wear resistance and long life. We weld the stainless steel cap at the sides of the rail, which provides a smooth, imperfection-free running surface. The wrap-around cap ensures a tight bond between the stainless steel cap and aluminum conductor over a wide thermal range.
