The Neverhood is a 1996 point-and-click cinematic game known for its full use of claymation (sets, cutscenes and digitalized animated characters) developed by The Neverhood, Inc. with help from DreamWorks Interactive (both are long defunct).

The world, called The Neverhood, is a small continent made of Klay floating somewhere in the endless Void. You play as Klaymen who woke up inside the Nursery; not knowing his purpose, he sets out to explore the seemingly empty world...

The game is roughly divided into two parts. The first part is puzzle heavy exploration of the Neverhood featuring the famous Hall of Records where the background for the entire setting can be read. The second part is mostly a claymation short film and later an animation explaining what happened to the Neverhood.

Some of the puzzles are randomized on each new game.

Notes and some puzzle comments:

2:45 - Reading the letters from Willie seems like random nonsense, but they update with hints for current puzzles if you get stuck and come back.
5:40 - The rightmost ring, that makes a cowbell sound, turns on and off a radio later in the game. You do not know the state of the radio when you start the game so it is always a 50/50 chance you will need to come back if you switch it off.
8:19 - This button activates water for a puzzle a little later. Hinted by the same skull.
8:40 - Skip to 10:48 if you do not want to hear Klaymen burping for two minutes straight! These fruit eating cutscenes are an optional joke.
21:20 - Start of the famous Hall of Records corridor. You have to walk ALL the way to the end to pick up one of the disks and then ALL the way back. The writing on the walls can be read and explains the entire history and lore of the worlds and gods and god like beings made of Klay. While some of the stories do explain who the few characters are, it is otherwise simply a LOT more to the lore than it was really necessary. 29:30 - A puzzle based on Helmholtz resonance. I forgot that I can rapidly spit water until the final try so that is the reason why I did not.
39:50 - One of those puzzles that ruined some childhoods. You cannot do anything here yet, you only need to write down the random sequence of 12 symbols for later AND which POSITION made a strange sound (the symbol at this position is randomized).
54:10 - The radio inside the radio tower is either on or off at the start of the game and the cowbell sounding ring in the Nursery switches its state. Once it is operational, you need to tune in on the randomly chosen channel that played on the other big radio on the wall found with the green car.
