Northern Territory Chief Minister Eva Lawler responded to questions about the increased violence and crime on the back of lifting the alcohol bans in Northern Territory town camps.

“Absolutely as chief minister, I won’t have alcohol in town camps," Ms Lawler said.

“That was a policy of the Coalition government at the time … it was federal legislation, it was a federal move, they’re the ones that washed their hands of it and we’re the ones in the NT government that copped the ongoing around that.

Ms Lawler discussed how the ban led to “high levels of domestic violence”.

“That’s why I have said we will do that full funding of DV in the territory.”
