Career in Ruins is hosted by Derek Pitman and Lawrence Shaw who are both heritage processionals and known for their work on Time Team, where their expertise in geophysics, landscape archaeology, and digital heritage brings new insight to sites across the UK.

Derek is an Associate Professor in archaeological and Anthropology at Bournemouth University whose research and fieldwork focus on geophysics, material culture, and effective public engagement. Lawrence is Lead Historic Environment Officer at Forestry England and a prominent archaeologist working across national parks and forestry landscapes, specialising in LiDAR, remote sensing, and large-scale landscape interpretation.
