One of the best tracks from the X Series- the theme of Crystal Snail was composed in chords, and I chose a somewhat unconventional way to record this in order to achieve the desired sound. The Mbira and Glockenspiel are paired together, with the Mbira taking on the lower notes of the chords, and the Glockenspiel being used for the upper notes. The same was done with the Harmonium and Melodica, with the Harmonium being used for the lower notes, and the Melodica for the higher ones. The Korg Minilogue is used for a little atmosphere in the background. This was one of the first songs I wanted to do a cover of when I decided to get an Mbira.
