In 1962, Ferrari monopolised the podium and became the most successful manufacturer in the Sarthe region, while Olivier Gendebien announced his well-deserved retirement after four wins in eight appearances. That year saw 11 GTs in the top 13. n 1963, Le Mans discovered the turbine with BRM/Rover, which returned in 1965. Although the same year saw another Cavallino victory, Ford made a discreet start at Le Mans with a Ford-powered Lola GT, only to return in force the following year with three GT40s and two Cobra Daytonas. The late Phil Hill also gave him the lap record! Even Ferrari's ninth victory was an American one, won by the 275LM of the N.A.R.T (North American Racing Team)!
