After an incredible weekend of racing at the 71st Macau Grand Prix, Kevin Tse (HKG) emerged in the Greater Bay Area GT Cup (GT4) with a podium finish at P3. The Hong Kong driver came home to clinch the podium and cap off a stellar season in his Contempo Concept-liveried #18 Mercedes-AMG GT4. Despite finishing P5 on track, he was promoted to P3 after applying the post-race penalties.

Tse looked good all weekend long, constantly setting the fastest time among the Mercedes-AMG GT4s. His experience at Macau was critical this year, as the circuit witnessed some of the heaviest downpours on Sunday. In addition to a tough competition grid, Tse faced difficult racing conditions brought by the typhoon that landed right before race weekend. This meant the majority of track time, from free practice to the race itself, took place with wet track conditions.

Tse’s qualifying performance proved to be vital around the Guia Circuit, where it is notoriously difficult to overtake. The Hong Kong driver started in the second row behind the safety car. The conditions proved to be extremely tricky and Tse unfortunately lost a position on track as he struggled for grip. He finally managed to heat up the tires and was able to maintain his position. Eventually, he came home P5 on track, however, 2 drivers ahead were penalized, elevating Tse up to a podium spot.

Tse celebrated the podium with jubilation as it capped off an incredible racing season. He has shown incredible progress as a driver - the P3 finish serving as the perfect way to seal off the year. The Hong Kong driver will return next season and his racing programme will be announced in due course.
