When should a Veteran NOT use a VA Loan?
The VA loan is not a one-size files all for veterans and active-duty service members. Believe it or not, there are actually times I would tell a veteran to consider a different type of loan.
When Veteran's cal me asking if they should use their VA loan benefit, I will tell them the only time I don't recommend they use their VA home loan benefit is when the veteran is putting down 100%. In other words, if they're paying cash for the house, of course we're not going to use a VA loan.
However, I always tell my Veterans to consider using a VA home loan to be able to look at both options and make an informed buying decision on whether or not the VA home loan is right for you. There are two particular instances I would advise a Veteran to consider using a conventional loan in lieu of a VA Loan. Watch this video for details.
