Stage Analysis | Four Phases in Market Cycles | Stock Market Cycles

Stock Market cycles generally exhibit in four different phases. These phases are applicable in all types of asset classes like Commodities, Equities, currencies etc. The four stages of a market cycle include the accumulation, markup, distribution, and markdown phases.
Accumulation is a phase that occurs after market bottoms and smart investors start buying, figuring the worst is over.
Markup is a phase in which the stock price breaks out of range. It forms higher tops and higher bottoms which shows that market participants are bullish on the stock.
Distribution is a phase where sellers restrict the prices to go up which results in peak formation.
Markdown is a phase in which the stock price tumbles due to heavy selling. After the markdown phase is over the same cycle repeats again.
