Gun Cleaning Tips for Friday, Don't Dip in the Bore Solvent, Only Clean the Direction of the Rifling

Here are just a few tips for you this lovely Friday afternoon from BallistiXPro.

When cleaning your barrel it is important to know you should only clean in one direction. Only clean in the direction of the rifling (the same way the bullet travels). It is kind of like shaving against the grain, you can do a little damage to the rifling and eventual reduce the accuracy of your gun. Not to mention pushing all the lead into the lower receiver of your gun if you do it in the opposing direction without field stripping it first.

Also do not dunk your cotton mop, cloth or bore snake into your bore solvent as this can lead to the breaking down of the bore solvent. It leaves lead and other metals inside solvent in which it continually tries to break down, and by doing so also breaks down the solvent making it less effective over time.

You can use a threaded nylon rope to make sure you only go one direction if you do not have a bore snake or you can unscrew the brass brush each time the brush exits the barrel. Only use brass so you do not damage your barrel, and make sure to get it as dry as possible so there is no solvent left once you have finished cleaning it.

I hope these tips help when cleaning your gun and have a great day.
