Challenging approach and landing on runway 09 Samos (SMI LGSM).

Samos International Airport features a single short runway serving both arrivals and departures. This airport is a so called "C-airport". This means you need to be trained to fly to this destination and in this case only the Captain is allowed to land there.
The airports surroundings leave little room for error or mistakes, with nearby mountains and sea at the end of the short runway. There are often strong Meltemi winds blowing from the north during the summer months which further contribute to the difficulty of the landing.

This flight was flown towards runway 09 which is challenging because of the mountains around the approach path. At low altitude we have to make an about 90 degrees turn to get in front of the runway. Enjoy this approach. It was my first approach after the training. So the first one I did on my own.
