AWS Tutorial - How to Copy An Object From Your EC2 Instance To Amazon S3 Using The CP Command

According to AWS documentation, there are several ways to move data to and from Amazon S3 to your instances. The aws s3 cp command is similar to the Unix cp command. This AWS tutorial video will teach you how to copy an object from your EC2 instance to Amazon S3 using the AWS s3 cp command. Use the following command to copy an object from Amazon S3 to your instance. [ec2-user ~] $ aws s3 cp my_copied_file.ext s3://my_bucket/my_folder/my_file.ext

To accomplish this task:
Log into the management console
Select S3 under service.
Create a bucket where you will copy the file to
Next, select IAM service
Create an AWS service role with S3 full access permission
Next, select EC2 under service
Make sure the following are attached to your EC2 Instance
A security group which allows SSH and http/https access to your EC2 instance
Key Pair to access your ec2 instance
S3 full access IAM role
Next, SSH into your EC2 instance using putty
Navigate into the directory where the object you want to copy is located.
Run the following command: $ aws s3 cp s3://my_bucket/my_folder/my_file.ext my_copied_file.ext
