It is said that Chhatrapati Shivaji's Shivrajyabhishek or coronation ceremony took place at Raigad, which later became his resting place as well. The primary feature of the fort is a towering structure that is flanked by watchtowers. One can also spot the queen's quarters and Nagarkhana darwaja. It also has a huge ground that is believed to have been a venue for Holi celebrations in its heydays.
