About Ryan Fernandez (b. 2013)
Ryan is currently a soccer player with the New York Red Bulls Pre-Academy Team (2023-2024 Season). He was named Team Captain during his first season with the team (2021-2022), as well as during his second season (2022-2023), an honor he is most proud of.

Ryan was accepted into the NY Red Bulls RDS program at 6 years old, and at 7 was identified as one of the top players in his age group from the NYC metropolitan area and was fast-tracked into the RDS Showcase/Pre-Academy Team. He was a member of the 2021 Winter & Summer Showcase Teams. While playing with the the NYRB 2021 Summer Showcase Team, Ryan enjoyed an undefeated season with the team as they were crowned champions in the three tournaments in which they participated, winning all twelve of their games decisively.

Ryan began his young career when he was recruited for the Union City Soccer Club U-9 Travel Team at the age of five years old while playing recreation soccer in Union City, NJ. He is the youngest player to ever be recruited for the Union City Soccer Club Travel Team. He went on to play for the UCSC U-10 Travel Team, before leaving for the New York Red Bulls Pre-Academy.

He enjoyed a championship season with Cedar Stars Academy (Bergen) during the 2020-2021 season. In the summers of 2021, 2022 & 2023, Ryan trained and played in Mexico with Academia de Futbol ATLAS Playa del Carmen. He has been scouted by many local, national and international teams, but his present focus is with the NY Red Bulls.

Ryan’s passion is soccer, but he also enjoys hiking, biking, track, basketball, as well as dancing hip-hop and performing. Ryan is a high honors student at Sara M. Gilmore Academy in Union City, NJ. He loves school and enjoys reading & writing, math and studying Mandarin, Spanish and German. He is an artist, loves music, and is very active with STEM projects.
