How not to fix a washing machine. Although… it was fixed… ultimately.

They said it couldn’t be done. They said it was un-filmable. They said I’d had one over the eight and should probably put my dick back in my shorts. Actually, the wife said all these things, but I still repaired the blimmin’ washing machine while she slobbed around watching Coronation Street on the telly and scoffing a whole box of Terry’s All Gold…

… and a toffee apple.

As someone who volunteered at a repair café in the pre-pandemic times, I’m of the opinion that it’s always good to have a crack at attempting to find why something isn’t doing the business and if it can be fixed with some simple screwdriver twiddling, pliar-pulling or general fannying around. Often, it can but never undertake anything you’re not completely comfortable with, especially with dangerous stuff like electrics. See this video then not as a ‘how-to’, but more as a ’how-I-somehow-happened-to’. It’s not right, it’s not wrong…. much…, it’s just my own repair attempt on my own machine. And this time it worked…

…eventually.

Pro tip: Don’t drink and DIY. The booze made my evening go smoother, the lack of it would have made this repair go quicker. Following a Saturday spent nursing a beastly hangover, I found last Sunday the actual cause of the trouble. Skip to the end if (for whatever unfathomable reason) you don’t want to see the guts of a flimmin’ washing machine and forty-odd minutes of a good-looking drunk bloke reaching the wrong conclusions.

Anyway, take this nonsense for what it is: common things that may cause a washing machine not to drain. Yes, I know it’s dull but as I said in the video, this is for my own benefit so that when it happens again, I don’t have to re-learn what I did before.
