Artificial intelligence is all the buzz in 2019, and conjures all kinds of intellectual-property related questions, such as:

1. How can Artificial Intelligence (AI) help you search for existing patents (and patent-related publications), trademarks, and copyrights?

2. Can you patent artificial intelligence? If so, how?

3. What tools are available for you to use to search for / get intellectual property?

This is a summary of a presentation I put together in conjunction with a panel I joined at the US Patent Office on September 14, 2019.

Here are some short insights:

I. About AI and ANN (Artificial Neural Networks)
-- Skynet is not on the horizon
-- Much of the fear is based in "marketing hype"
-- Artificial intelligence, by detecting defined inputs and observing defined outputs, is able to, after sufficient inputs and outputs:
characterize detected inputs
recognize probable patterns
(3) predict outputs

II. In short:
Artificial Intelligence + Human Intelligence (aka “Natural Intelligence”)
= Better Human Decisions & Actions (we hope)
