I remember why I switch the audio signal with a diode: I was concerned that the input circuit of the MAX9814 would be damaged if the audio was supplied by the other MAX9814 (as they are both connected to the SRA-1 so to each other).

Be aware when you buy a Si5351 PCB you have the version that also runs on 5 VDC (for your convenience).
