We officially have our sixth named storm of the Atlantic hurricane season, Fiona! Invest 96-L developed to Tropical Depression Seven on Wednesday morning, before strengthening to a tropical storm.

As of 2 a.m. Thursday, the National Hurricane Center says Tropical Storm Fiona currently has maximum sustained winds of 50 mph as it continues to move west at 14 mph. Fiona is about 625 miles east of the Leeward Islands.

The NHC has issued tropical storm watches for portions of the northern Leeward Islands.
