Taking a look at the best Gas Masks/Respirators/Protective masks from each decade from the 1940s up until the 2000s. This list is obviously based on my personal opinions and yours may vary.
List of masks:
British Light anti-gas respirator MK2, US M9A1 protective mask, British S6 Respirator, Soviet ShMS optical respirator, British Avon S10 Respirator, Swedish Forsheda F2 A4, Avon FM12 respirator.
Some of these masks may technically cross over into different decades.
