Roads in Tasmania (131) Jan24 - Exploring Oatlands historical buildings, banofee pancakes, swans

Today is all about Oatlands. We take a walk back through time to learn of Oatlands history. It was the only town in Van Diemans Land to have a Supreme Court and harsh punishments for convicts who appeared before it. The historical, self guided walk is a key that unlocks several of the old buildings and it is worth the walk. Just make sure you have some cash to put down as a security on the return of the key. It is refunded in full when you hand the key back at the information centre.
We experience the famous banofee pancakes, not served everyday of the week as they were too popular, and we relax resting up for another epic walk tomorrow.
It’s a beautiful place, Oatlands. We admire the architecture and the commitment to restore and preserve it.
Thank you again for joining us on this leg of our journey. You will always be welcome to karmonajourney with us. Sorry you missed the pancakes…
