Mardin, a hidden gem of Turkey!

Описание к видео Mardin, a hidden gem of Turkey!

Welcome back to another special memory ⭐
This time we're flying all the way close to Turkish-Syrian borders where I had the great opportunity to explore Mardin's beautiful culture, rich history and inclusive languages from Turkish to Arabic and Kurdish!

Enjoy the video like and try to watch it like you're actually there 🙈

🔎 KEY INFORMATION:

✈️ Flights:
- If you're flying from Outside of Turkey to Istanbul Airport, you'll find direct flights from Istanbul Airport to Mardin's Prof. Dr. Aziz SANCAR Airport. The flight lasts around 2 hours tops and the airport is 30 to 40 mins ride away from Mardin Old Town.
- If you're already in Turkey living/traveling, you'll find other direct flight options besides Istanbul Airport, such as Ankara.
💶 Budget (flight and accommodation not included):
- Transportation: Mardin's old town in built on a hill while the city is at ground level. So, if you're planning on moving in between a lot, you should expect transportation costs because there's a one-way road leading up to the old town and it's usually full of traffic in rush hours and on weekends.
- Food: Restaurants are such a vibe in the old town and the food is amazing probably the best cuisine I've tasted (so far). I really advise you to try a different one and dish every time. Meal Prices are reasonable ranging from 10 to 20€ (30€ exception for the pretty fancy ones)
- Tours and guide were both covered for me, so I'm not sure how much they cost but I highly recommend you book one because you can't reach most of the places shown in the video without a tourist bus or a car if you have one.
🏠 Accommodation:
There are hotels as well as hostels. I stayed at Izala Boutique Hotel, loved it!!
I haven't been to the city at all. I've only stayed at at the Old Town and explored the places mentioned in the video. Based on that, I'd absolutely recommend you book an accommodation in the Old Town because it's strategic and easier to get back to at night!
🏳️ Tip: Double check via reviews, before you book, if it's on the main road of the old town or you have to go up the hill further to get to it lol (+ make sure if it's reachable on foot alone or by car/bus too, for your luggage because you can't always trust Google Maps these days)
🕙 Trip duration: I've stayed a week but I believe 4/5 days are enough.
🗓️ Month of the Year: End of June 2024
🌡️ Temperature in June 2024/Summer 2024: F'ing HOTTTT!
Don't walk your way in the old town in the morning/midday without a hat, sunscreen and possibly long sleeves/leggins because the sun burns even more than in Tunisia, trust me.
My advice: Spend the morning moving around from one site/destination to another and then exploring the old town for 2 hours before sunset and lastly experience night life with food and traditional music and as much walking as you want haha

I hope this was useful :) Thanks for watching this special memory and the truly unique Mardin through my eyes 💖
