This week on Film Jams we are unboxing the DJI Ronin-S and showing you how to balance the gimbal. We're really excited about this addition to the Ronin camera gimbal line. We hope this DJI Ronin-S unboxing, initial Ronin S setup, and test shots help you decide on what to buy! Keep a lookout for our full review coming in the next couple weeks.

Film Jams has been patiently waiting for the new Ronin-S gimbal release since it was first announced. It's unique in that it is the first one-handed small gimbal setup that DJI has produced. We take a look at how to first setup and balance the Ronin S as well as include some Ronin S test shots and test footage video.

We setup the Ronin S with our Sony a7S II camera. It worked well, and almost seemed a bit light for the gimbal. We added the riser to balance the weight better. In the video we show how to balance the Ronin S with the Sony a7s II, so check that out if you're interested in seeing that combo. Most other Sony cameras should have a similar setup with the Ronin S. Balancing the Ronin S can be a little tricky as there are lots of adjustment options, so make sure to have time when on set or practice before a shoot.

This DJI gimbal has a number of interesting features, including supporting up to around 8 pounds, coming with an app that has a number of presets and camera movement effects, a solid handle with integrated battery and focus wheel (compatible with certain cameras and systems), and record button on the gimbal.

Overall, upon first look, we were impressed by the new Ronin-S gimbal and look forward to shooting with it more in the coming days!
